1. Though we do not have cell group next week, Andrew Fellowship has kindly invited us to join them in their Team Building 2008.

Date: 15th March 2008 (Sat)
Place: Bedok Reservoir Park on Bedok Reservoir Road
Time: 0945hrs-1300hrs
Fees: $5 (Andrew Fellowship already subsidised $20)
Registration: Just inform WeiXuan or May if interested by Wed.

2. Joshua will be absent from our cell group for 2 mths due to his trainings which are on sat 1630hrs-1830hrs. Continue to pray for his safety during training.

We had our lastest cell group bible study this sat, 8March @ Joshua’s House. This time round, we tried to use the Beta bible study program we borrowed from Edwin. I have to say this was quite a good cell gathering where we managed to do sharings and catching up as we learn God’s word.

This week, we’re basically discussing the question: “Who Am I?” We talked about how we were initially created in the image of God, where Adam and Eve are both physically and spiritually alive. They felt safe, significant and secured as they were close to Christ. But from the day Adam and Eve sinned, they died spiritually even though they lived physically. And as a consequence, every descendant of Adam is born into this world physically alive but spiritually dead. We started feeling fearful, anxious, guilty, ashamed, depressed, angry, powerless and rejected.

But 2000 yrs ago, Jesus came into the world. He was the first man since Adam to be both physically and spiritually alive. He modeled for us how a spiritually alive person can live in this fallen worldas long as his life is lived dependent on the Father. Most importantly, he cam to give LIFE. He said, “ I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

That’s the main stuff that we learnt this session. We also got a list of “Who I Am In Christ”, one whole page of bible verses telling us who we are and how important we are in God’s eyes. Will print a copy for everyone next week.

Lastly, the ending question for this week that will lead us to next week’s session is, “Suppose you are talking to someone who is not yet a Christian. How would you summarize the gospel message in a a few sentence?” Do spend some time thinking about it and feel free to leave a comment about your answer below.

If you don’t already know, saltoftheworld.wordpress.com will be the official blog of our Cell group. For those who weren’t with us at the meeting at Weixuan’s house last Saturday (23rd Feb), we’ve made some decisions based on the majority who were there.

Why are we called the Salt of the World?

well, jesus told his disciples to be the light of the world and to be the salt of the world. Light and salt are the external and internal roles respectively we’re supposed to play as christians today. Light signifys rightousness, good role model and direction to the people around us. Salt signifys healing, building up and accommodating/blending in with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our Vision…

A group of youths fostering bonds through fellowship, growing spiritually through the words of the Bible, learning self discipline and being accountable for one another. To mould leaders and be good role models to the younger ones in church.
